Business Visitation Program
What is it? The BVP is a confidential one-on-one meeting between the municipal Economic Development Officer (EDO) and an owner or manager of a business that is licensed to conduct business in the Town of Sylvan Lake.
What is the purpose?
The BVP serves multiple functions:
How much time does the business need to schedule? A series of standard questions have been developed in order to gain an overall outlook of the local economy and its drivers. The visitation usually lasts 1 to 1-1/2 hours as information gathered is recorded electronically in a BVP template during the program.
The goal of this program is to engage the business community and support economic diversification!
Waterfront Commercial District Business Visitation
Home-based Business Visitation
The Home-based Business Visitation Program is an opportunity for you and the Sylvan Lake Economic Development Department to share knowledge of available resources and support services that will enhance your home-based business, and/or provide links to help expand your business.
Downtown Facade Improvement Program
The Façade Improvement Program is designed to encourage retail and commercial building owners to invest in facade renovations and storefront upgrades by providing grants to cover a portion of renovation costs. Grants will be awarded to eligible applicants to cover up to 50% of the façade renovation costs, up to a maximum dollar value. The 2015 grant program will provide an incentive for 50th Street/Centennial Street buildings to complete façade upgrades that contribute to the Waterfront Area, by creating a more interesting and appealing street environment that attracts people and new businesses.
