Town of Sylvan Lake offers toilet rebate program
The Town of Sylvan Lake is introducing a rebate
program for homeowners who replace high flow toilets with a low flow
alternative.
Effective immediately, homeowners will receive a rebate on their
utility accounts for $50 should they choose to exchange their high
flow toilet with a low flow toilet and a $100 rebate for those who
install a dual flush toilet.
“We are continuously working to lessen our environmental footprint,”
John Watson, Operations Foreman for the Town of Sylvan Lake said.
“This policy provides home owners with a financial incentive to
install a toilet that dramatically reduces the amount of water
utilized in their home every month. The benefits of this will not
only be seen on their utility bill, but on a much larger scale as
the years go by.”
In order to qualify for the rebate program, the residence must be on
the town’s metered water system and must be replacing a toilet with
a flush volume of 13L or more with a low flow flush volume of 6L or
less. Condo associations or owners of multi-family residential
buildings are encouraged to contact the Town of Sylvan Lake
Operations prior to replacements.
Application forms for the Toilet Rebate Program are available at
Town Hall, Public Works or on-line
here. In order to receive a rebate, the original receipt of the
new toilet must be attached to the application form. If the toilet
replacement qualifies, a credit will be applied directly to the
applicant’s utility account.
*Did you know that on average each person in a home will flush
the toilet six times a day – which is more than 14,000 litres every
month? Low flow toilets can save as much as 16 litres per flush*
