2016 SYLVAN LAKE FCSS COMMUNITY GRANT PROGRAM is accepting grant funding applications.

Sylvan Lake Family and Community Support Services is dedicated to strengthening and enhancing family and community life by offering locally based preventative and supportive services, promoting voluntarism and coordinating partnerships in the  community.

The purpose of the Sylvan Lake FCSS Community Grant Program is to support local social service projects that are preventative in nature and promote and enhance the well - being of individuals, families and community.

This is an annual grant program and the 2016 application deadline is September 30, 2015

There is also grant applications available for pick up at the FCSS office 4725 43 Street (Community Centre)

Recreation Arts and Culture

The Sylvan Lake Community Services Committee accepts applications for funding twice per year with a spring and fall call for proposals. Funding may be approved for organizations or groups providing programs, services, or events within municipal boundaries that address a community need, contribute to the positive image of Sylvan Lake, and/or enhance the quality of life for residents of Sylvan Lake.

  • Recreation and leisure is defined as athletic or leisure opportunities offered to the local community currently not offered by the Town of Sylvan Lake.
  • Arts & Culture is defined as opportunities that enhance and benefit the artistic expression and cultural traditions of the lives of Sylvan Lake residents.

Organizations wishing to apply for funding are encouraged to complete an initial consultation by contacting the Community Services office at 403-887-2199.

Recreation, Arts & Culture Grant Application

 You Can Play Too

If cost is a barrier to participation in a program being offered by theTown of Sylvan Lake, the You Can Play Too grant is available to assist you and your family. This grant provides a subsidy for program participation to those individuals and families who qualify based on income up to a maximum amount of $100/person per year. Eligable programs include, but are not limited to;

  • Youth Services Summer Camps
  • After School Registered Programs
  • School's Out Day Camps
  • Toy Library Memberships
  • Swimming Lessons
  • Water Fitness Classes
  • Swim Passes
  • Red Cross Learning Opportunities.

Winter Games Legacy Grant Fund

The purpose of the Town of Sylvan Lake Winter Games Legacy Grant Program is to provide for individual athletes, coaches and sport groups within Sylvan Lake access to funding to support training, to attend high level sporting events outside of Sylvan Lake, to pursue coaching educational and developmental opportunities, or to host sporting events that will benefit the community.

FaÇade Improvement Program Grant

The Façade Improvement Program is designed to encourage retail and commercial building owners to invest in facade renovations and storefront upgrades by providing grants to cover a portion of renovation costs.  Grants will be awarded to eligible applicants to cover up to 50% of the façade renovation costs, up to a maximum dollar value.  The 2015 grant program will provide an incentive for 50th Street/Centennial Street buildings to complete façade upgrades that contribute to the Waterfront Area, by creating a more interesting and appealing street environment that attracts people and new businesses.  

The program is intended to:

  • Enhance the appearance and charm of commercial areas while making streets a more attractive, safe, and interesting place to walk.
  • Help building owners attract and retain tenants.
  • Contribute to the quality of life of residents, workers, and visitors.
  • Promote the marketability of the local business area.
  • Build civic pride among the local business community and residents of the Town of Sylvan Lake.

Funding cannot be utilized for maintenance projects. Applications for grants must enhance the pedestrian experience and contribute to the character of the area.
