Protective Services Department - Municipal Enforcement

The Town of Sylvan Lake Municipal Enforcement Officers are mandated through their appointments as Community Peace Officers to enforce Town Bylaws and selected Provincial Statutes, which encompasses all traffic related offences including speeding and stunting.
The officers do not deal with Criminal Code offences. They have a close and excellent working relationship with the Sylvan Lake RCMP Detachment and Enforcement Officers with both the County of Red Deer and Lacombe. In meeting the mandate of the Town a seasonal position is in place from May to September with a focus to traffic enforcement.

For Municipal enforcement bylaws and other commonly requested bylaws click here.  If you cannot locate the bylaw you are looking for or for further information, contact the Town of Sylvan Lake at 403 887 2141.

Heavy Vehicles & Dangerous Goods

Municipal Enforcement provides enforcement with Heavy Vehicles and Dangerous Goods transportation in the Town of Sylvan Lake. One of the Special Constables is a Certified C.V.S.A. and Dangerous Goods Inspector. The weights and measures are also enforced with portable scales.

In conjunction with the RCMP our Municipal Enforcement Officers volunteer their time for the annual Charity Check Stop where food, toys and cash are collected for the less fortunate at Christmas.
