Town Welcomes New CAO
After an extensive and thorough search, the Town of Sylvan Lake is happy to announce a new Chief Administrative Officer.
Dawn Phillips has accepted the role as CAO for the Town and will begin her time in Sylvan Lake on April 1, 2025. She is currently the CAO for the Town of Smoky Lake in Northern Alberta.

We had an impressive number of applications for this position, with many highly qualified candidates, but Council is confident that Dawn’s experience and leadership will be an excellent fit for our organization and community. We are thrilled to welcome Dawn’s steady leadership and wealth of knowledge to our team, and we look forward to the contributions she will make to our already strong organization.” - Mayor Megan Hanson
The new CAO brings nearly 30 years of municipal experience, having served in leadership roles across a variety of municipalities, including Smoky Lake, Athabasca County, Taber, and Camrose. Her extensive expertise spans everything from overseeing recreation, parks, emergency management, fire, FCSS and much more.
