50 Ave Redevelopment | Phase 2: 38 Street to 45 Street

Construction of Phase 2, 38 Street to 45 Street, is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of April 26, 2021. In the first stage, 50 Avenue is closed from 38 Street to 41 Street.
- Pidherney’s is managing and completing the construction work, and
- Fortis Alberta is managing and completing the burial of overhead power lines and the installation of street lighting.
The 50 Avenue redevelopment includes these improvements:
- Addition of storm water mains and catch basins to improve drainage in the area,
- Replacement of aging water and sanitary mains and services to improve the utilities service and longevity of the utility,
- New sidewalks to allow pedestrians to walk safely along the north and south side of the roadway,
- Crosswalk improvements so it’s safer for pedestrians to cross the road with new intersection bulb outs. These are also a means to slow traffic,
- Improved lighting and burial of overhead power lines will make the area safer and give the street a more modernized and aesthetically pleasing look, and
- Improved line painting, signage, and landscaping making the street scape more aesthetically pleasing.
