  • Council approved the renaming of the Leader Field Tournament House to the John Salsbury Tournament House

PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Council granted first reading to proposed Land Use Bylaw Bylaw 1888-2023, to re-designate Lot 69, Block 11, Plan 142 0051 and part of the SE 29-38-1-W5M. Council set the public hearing date for this bylaw to September 25, 2023, 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Government Building as requested in Report AIR-800
  • The Public Hearing on Land Use Bylaw Amendments Bylaw 1882-2023, for Hampton Pointe Re-Zoning, opened at 6:13 PM, with no speakers in support of, opposed to, or affected by the bylaw. No input was received so the Public Hearing was closed. That means no further verbal or written statements regarding the Bylaw will be received Council granted second and third reading to Bylaw 1882-2023
  • The Public Hearing on Land Use Bylaw Amendments Bylaw 1883-2023, for 60 West Re-Zoning, opened at 6:18 PM, with no speakers in support of, opposed to, or affected by the bylaw. Trina Lamanes, Senior Planner, read this correspondence, “We are writing to comment on development in Sixty West. We have followed the development from the planning stage. We had hoped it would include a seniors area. Seniors are meaning single storey structures, possible duplex or triplex all on one floor. Willow Springs, Westin Pl. has an ideal setup for seniors. Unfortunately there are very few if any for sale. There has been some builds advertising as seniors housing but they have stairs. There have also been listings for seniors housing but are very costly for example $400,00 plus. Talking to residents who have moved to Sylvan like us and purchased homes over the past 10 years. Moving from a rural area as well out of province. Most retired and chose to downsize and others to be closer to their family and grandchildren. They also would like to see some type of seniors living on one floor. Like others that I have mentioned their first choice is not a Condo.” After this input, the Public Hearing was closed. That means no further verbal or written statements regarding the Bylaw will be received
  • Council granted second reading to Bylaw 1883-2023, as presented in AIR-802, to amend the Land Use Bylaw 1695-2015, to re-designate a portion of SE 30-38-1 W5
  • Council granted third reading to Bylaw 1883-2015, to amend the Town’s Land Use Bylaw 1695-2015, as requested in AIR-802
