Council Highlights: April 11, 2023

PROCLAMATIONS

• Mayor Hanson proclaims April 16 – 22, 2023, to be National Volunteer Week in Sylvan Lake
• Mayor Hanson proclaims April 21, 2023, to be Lights on Afterschool Alberta Day in Sylvan Lake

PUBLIC HEARINGS

• Mayor Hanson and Council presented the H.J. Cody Senior Girls Basketball team with a Certificate of Recognition for representing Sylvan Lake with pride at the 2023 3A Central Zone Basketball Championship and congratulated them on being the first H. J. Cody Lakers Senior Girls Basketball Team to win the 3A Championship in school history

CONSENT AGENDA

• Council approves First Reading of the Code of Conduct for Council and Council Committees Bylaw
• Council gives First Reading to Bylaw 1877-2023, establishing the 2023 property tax rates
• Council gives First Reading to Bylaw 1878-2023, authorizing the collection of a supplementary tax for the 2023 fiscal year

CORPORATE SERVICES

• Council approves First Reading of the Fees and Charges Bylaw
• Council approves amending the 2023 Budget, updating the Operating and Capital projects to include carryovers from prior years

ADMINISTRATION

• Council appoints the Summer Villages representative to the Sylvan Lake Library Board for a period beginning August 1, 2021, and ending July 31, 2023

PUBLIC WORKS

• Council approves the Roadway Marking Policy, Number E-003-004-C and rescinds the Roadway Marking Policy Number E-003-004-B
• Council authorizes Administration to accept the trade-in offer from Wajax Ltd. of Red Deer, Alberta, on the Town’s 2010 model wheel loader for $103,500, excluding the GST

PARKS AND PROTECTIVE SERVICES

• Council awards the tender for the Pogadl Park Tournament House to IMC Construction Ltd. for an amount not to exceed $570,000, exclusive of the GST
