Lakeshore Drive Pedestrian Area Reopening to Traffic

On the morning of Tuesday, August 2, 2022, the Lakeshore Drive pedestrian area is reopening to vehicle traffic. Council made this difficult decision after hearing feedback and assessing how the closure has affected our downtown core this year. The impact on traffic, pedestrian flow, and parking around the closure area outweigh the benefits of keeping this space open. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as we balance the needs of the community with the practical logistics of the Lakeshore Drive closure.  

We know that many businesses, Lakers, and visitors support and enjoy the pedestrian area. The Town may revisit the idea after downtown construction is complete.
