Holiday garbage, recycling, and Christmas tree pick-up

Live Christmas Tree Pick-up

Public Works collects live Christmas trees January 6 - 17, 2025.

Pick up how to:

  1. Remove all tinsel, lights, decorations, tree stands, and plastic bags from your live tree
  2. Place your tree for pick-up where your garbage is normally collected by 8:00 AM on Monday, January 6
  3. It may take up to 10 days to collect your tree, please leave them out until January 17

Drop off how to:

  • You may also drop your live tree off for free at the Waste Transfer Site during operating hours
  • Wednesday to Saturday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, closed on statutory holidays
  • Located 1 km east of the roundabout on Highway #11A and 0.5 km south on RR12 (30 Street)

Extra recycling day January 7-10 

To help Lakers with all the recycling after the holiday season, we’ve added one extra recycling day during the week of January 7 to January 10.

How?

  • Place your blue recycling cart for collection near your black garbage cart on your garbage collection day by 8:00 AM

When?

  • During the week of January 7 to January 10

Is your garbage collection day Christmas Day?

  • We collect on December 26 (Boxing Day)
  • Collection may fall behind schedule, leave it out until collected

Is your garbage and recycling collection day New Years Day?

  • We collect on January 2
  • Collection may fall behind schedule, leave it out until collected

Waste Transfer Site Holiday Schedule

  • Christmas Day: Closed
  • Boxing Day: Closed
  • New Years Day: Closed

Normal Winter Hours

  • Wednesday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Closed on statutory holidays

Waste Transfer Site Location

  • One kilometer east of the round-about on Highway 11A and one-half kilometer south on RR12 (30 Street)
