Our Public Works team ensures the safety of our roadways with regular street maintenance.

Sylvan Lake Bylaws and Policies determine how we maintain our roads. The Public Works team follows the bylaws and policies and performs regular street maintenance including:
- Pothole repairs
- Crack sealing
- Street sweeping
- Curb and gutter repairs
- Gravel maintenance
- Roadway structure maintenance
- Regular patrol and inspection
Regular maintenance maximizes the life of our roads and trails, and minimizes the long-term costs related to reconstruction.

Every spring the Town sweeps the winter gravel from the roads to be recycled.

During these restrictions:
- The Town applies the Road Closure Policy
- Roads are marked with "no parking" signs in advance
A permit is required to haul dangerous goods, including gasoline, propane, and diesel, through the Town of Sylvan Lake.

75% axle weight restrictions in effect March 1 - June 1 every year:
- Axle weight restrictions at 75% are in effect for all Sylvan Lake roads with the exception of the East End and Beju Industrial parks, which have no axle weight restrictions.

You need a road closure permit for any activity that disrupts public access and/or use of a road, lane, sidewalk, or parking lot.
Apply for a road closure permit
- Read the Traffic Interruption Policy and road closure map outlines to view the approval process and road closure requirements including traffic control, and communication
- Complete the traffic interruption permit application, and submit here, selecting Road closure permit application
