The Town of Sylvan Lake is committed to a comprehensive Health and Safety Program with the main objective targeting zero workplace injuries or illnesses. We make every reasonable effort to manage work activities, while maintaining an occupational Health and Safety Program that conforms to the best practices of municipal government organizations.
The Town of Sylvan Lake is a proud holder of a Certificate of Recognition (COR), which demonstrates we have a Health and Safety Management System, evaluated by a certified auditor, that meets provincial standards. These standards are established by Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
Worker Safety
All employees/workers must perform their duties in accordance with safe work practices, and their supervisor's direction.
Contractors and their staff are also required to comply with the Town of Sylvan Lake's health and safety policies, directives, safe work practices, and procedures; compliance with the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act is also expected.
Health and safety vendor requirements
All contractors and service providers must complete the Town of Sylvan Lake's Health and Safety Vendor Package. Vendor Package requirements, include:
- A valid Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) Account Number, where necessary*;
- Proof of liability insurance appropriate to the service, and;
- A valid Town of Sylvan Lake Business License;
- Vendor Health and Safety Program completed in full
