Community Opportunities
A newly established Committee to oversee the administration of the municipal police service agreement between Town of Sylvan Lake and the Government of Canada for the services of the RCMP.
- In consultation with Council and the Officer in Charge, develop a yearly plan of priorities and strategies for municipal policing
- Represent the interests of the community as identified by Council to the Officer in Charge
- Committee members will be required to pass an enhanced security check through the RCMP
- Membership is a three-year term

Work in partnership with the Town and community stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that will support community-beneficial tourism and contribute to the strong and vibrant growth of the destination through tourism industry development, tourism product development, and destination development initiative.
Members of the committee are not required to have a residence in Sylvan Lake. This Committee is best suited for those working in the following industries:
- Accommodations
- Restaurant/Food service
- Retail
- Transportation
- Recreation, Leisure, Entertainment and related community groups
- Arts, culture, and related community groups

- Additional voluntary sub-committee meetings may be necessary throughout the year and will be scheduled as required

Work with the Economic Development Officer (EDO) to attract investment to Sylvan Lake by:
- Providing advice with respect to the strategy
- Helping to develop a two-year plan
- Members will be appointed in staggered one to two year terms

Vacancy
- Banking Institution Representative
Responsible for providing direction in the development of the Town. This is accomplished by giving direction in land use plans and by reviewing and critiquing developments submitted to the Town.
- Four public members serve a one-year term;
- Provides direction in the development of the town, and land use plans;

To provide access to comprehensive information in response to the needs of the community, uphold three principles of intellectual freedom and promote cultural enrichment.
- Nine members of the public serve a three-year term;
- Provides governance to, and is responsible for the operations of the library;
- The Library Board is a policy governance board to ensure the responsible and effective operation of the Library:
- It is bound by the Alberta Libraries Act and established under Bylaw 777/80 of the Town of Sylvan Lake.

Vacancy
Responsible for ensuring that adequate accommodation is provided to resident senior citizens at a reasonable cost. To provide quality health care in conjunction with other public service agencies and to provide opportunity for residents to participate in recreational and social activities that encourages their continual involvement in the local community.
- Five members of the public serve a three-year term
- Helps ensure seniors have access to affordable, quality accommodations, health care, and social opportunities

- Once a month, as scheduled by the Board at the Lodge

Community members, Town Council, and Administration work together to help support the goal of recruiting and retaining health professionals in our community. The recruitment and retention of doctors and health care professionals is an important issue for our citizens and is a named advocacy priority in the Town of Sylvan Lake's strategic plan.
Members of the committee are not required to have a residence in Sylvan Lake.
