PLEASE NOTE: Council highlights are not official meeting minutes. They are a summary of decisions and information from a Regular Council meeting. The meeting minutes are presented for adoption at the next Regular Council meeting.

PROCLAMATIONS

  • Mayor Hanson proclaims the month of November as Family Violence Prevention Month in the Town of Sylvan Lake
  • Mayor Hanson proclaims the month of November as Seniors’ Falls Prevention Month in the Town of Sylvan Lake

WELLNESS & COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS

  • Council approves the Citizen of the Year Policy, as amended by Council’s direction, regarding the Youth Award (with the recipient chosen from the Youth SPARK awards)
  • Council approves and replaces the Care-A-Van Policy #C-001-001E with Care-A-Van Policy #C-001-001F

PUBLIC WORKS

  • Council authorizes the Interim (or Acting) Chief Administrative Officer to finalize details of the Extended Producer Responsibility Program’s Master Services Agreement and the Statement of Work agreement for Paper and Packaging Products and to execute the agreements prior to the deadline of November 30, 2024

PROTECTIVE SERVICES

  • Council appoints Brennan Cupples as the Deputy Director of Emergency Management for the Town of Sylvan Lake

CORPORATE SERVICES

  • Council approves Report AIR-1008, to add the unpaid expenses and costs incurred by the Town to the tax rolls effective November 1, 2024, of those property owners identified in Appendix “A” who neglected to remove snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their properties and who, further neglected to remit payment to the Town upon demand

PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT

  • Council accepts the Multi-Family Tax Grant Policy and authorizes Administration to begin implementing the program

LEGISLATIVE SERVICES

  • Council approves Second and Third Reading of Regional Intermunicipal Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB) Bylaw

COUNCIL UPDATE

  • Council appoints Mayor Hanson, Councillor Oostindie, and Councillor Mearns to the CAO Search Committee
