PROCLAMATION

Mayor Megan Hanson proclaims March 26, 2024, as Purple Day for Epilepsy Awareness in the Town of Sylvan Lake

PUBLIC HEARING

Administration provided background information on the proposed Off-Site Levy Bylaw. There were no written submissions received prior to the meeting.  No speakers in support. One speaker opposed to the bylaw. Council granted Second Reading to Off-Site Levy Bylaw 1891-2024, but postponed Third Reading to the April 22 Regular Meeting of Council

SYLVAN LAKE FOUNDATION

Council appoints Andy LeBlanc to the Sylvan Lake Foundation for a term to expire October 2026

APPROVED PERMIT

Council approves a Development Permit for a detached dwelling located at 5120 48 Avenue, subject to the following conditions:

 1. That prior to the issuance of a development permit the applicant shall:

  • Submit a site grading plan for Town Approval

2. Development is constructed in accordance with the approved plans; 

3. The applicant ensuring:   

Compliance with all Federal, Provincial, and Municipal statutes, regulations and codes;

  • The property is maintained to the satisfaction of the Development Authority
  • The development is in accordance with Land Use Bylaw 1695/2015
  • The development is in accordance with the Water and Sewer Bylaw;
  • Any future development on site shall require a separate permit application

 4. All construction materials, supplies, and equipment are to be stored on the property and not on the public roadway

 5. The developer ensuring the continuous cleanup of construction debris tracked onto the public roadway where access is provided to the property

MUNICIPAL CENSUS

Council approves the following supplementary questions for the 2024 Municipal Census: 

1) In addition to a new high school, what facilities would you like to see partnered on the high school site? 

  • Answer Options: Library, Fine Arts Centre, Commercial business centre, all-season indoor fieldhouse 

2) Do you work outside of Sylvan Lake for employment? 

  • Answer Options: Yes, work away extended periods; Yes, daily commuter; Yes, carpooling; no 

3) Would you support tax funding for a public transportation system? 

  • Answer Options: Local only, Local and Red Deer, or would not support
