RCMP Presentation

  • Sylvan Lake RCMP Staff Sergeant Sexmith made a presentation of Commander’s Commendation to Lawson for his act of heroism and bravery while he was in a vehicle during a recent theft attempt. As a result of his quick thinking, the RCMP were able to successfully detain the suspect, without any injury or risk to public safety. Council also presented a small gift basket to Lawson as a token of appreciation

Memorial Bench and Tree Policies

  •  Council approves replacing the Memorial Bench & Tree Policy R-003-003 with Memorial Tree Policy R-003-005 and Memorial Bench Policy R-003-006

Transportation Support Program Policy

  • Council approves and replaces the Transportation Support Program Policy #C-002-004C with Transportation Support Program Policy #C-002-004D

Highway 20 & Memorial Trail Intersection Upgrades

  • Council amends the 2024 capital budget for the Highway 20 & Memorial Trail Intersection Upgrades, to $8,494,613.00 with $8,395,000.00 funding coming from the provincial government, $87,000.00 funding from 2024 Street Rehabilitation (CP2025) and remaining funding previously approved for CP1901
  • Council directs Administration to award the tender for the construction of intersection upgrades of Highway 20 and Memorial Trail to Border Paving Ltd. of Red Deer in an amount to not exceed $5,780,000.00 excluding GST

Signing Authority Policy

  • Council approves the Signing Authority Policy

Citizen Remuneration Committee

  • Council approves the following appointments to the Council Remuneration Citizen Committee, for a one-year term:
    • Danny Scott
    • Liz Bishop
    • Scott Barnes
    • Andy Leblanc
    • John Lee

Municipal Census

  • Council directs Administration to proceed with organizing and conducting a municipal census in 2024 for the Town of Sylvan Lake, with a budget of $60,500.00

Leaves of Abscenes

  • Council approves a leave of absence for Mayor Hanson for the Committee of the Whole Meeting on March 6, 2024, for the purpose of work demands
  • Council approves electronic meeting attendance by Councillor Oostindie for the Regular Council Meeting of March 11, 2024, for the purpose of attending the ASCHA Conference on Council related business
