- Ken Gardiner of Sylvan Lake spoke to Council regarding bylaw officers and proactive bylaw enforcement
- Jon-Paul Sola, President of the Sylvan Lake Lacrosse Association, spoke to Council regarding their opportunity to host the Lacrosse Provincials. They spoke to Council regarding their fundraising for a fieldhouse, and asked Council for their support in building a facility to grow the sport in Sylvan Lake and host the Lacrosse Provincials
Consent Agenda
- Council gives First Reading to the Records Management Bylaw 1889-2023
- Council approves a leave of absence for Mayor Hanson for the meeting of November 1, 2023, for the purpose of Council related business
- Council approves a leave of absence for Councillor Payne for the meeting of October 10, 2023, for the purpose of medical reasons
Public Hearing
- Staff Sargent Peden of the Sylvan Lake RCMP presented the Q3 RCMP Update and Crime Statistics
Presentations to Council
- Ron Shepphard of Parkland Regional Library Systems presented Council with an overview of their proposed 2024 budget. Council approved the budget for the 2024 fiscal year at at $9.18 per capita
- Sylvan Lake Municipal Library Board presented Council with an overview of their proposed 2024 budget
- Kjeryn Dakin presented Council with an overview of her Development Permit application for a change in use and addition at 4711 Lakeshore Drive
Snow Removal and Sidewalk Maintenance
- Council approves adding the unpaid expenses and costs incurred by the Town to the tax rolls (effective November 1, 2023) of those property owners who neglected to remove snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their properties and who neglected to provide payment to the Town
Committees
- Council adopts the amended Terms of Reference to the Tourism Development Committee for the Town of Sylvan Lake
- Council appoints Serena Reid to the Economic Development Community Advisory Committee in the role of Business Owner for a term to expire October 2025
Development Permit Change
- Council approves Development Permit #254-2023, for a change in use from restaurant to small scale alcohol facility and a 9’ x 25’ addition located at 4711 Lakeshore Drive, subject to a number of conditions
Correspondence
- Council approves the temporary appointment of Roger Dufresne to the Town of Sylvan Lake Subdivision and Development Appeal Board for the purpose of attending the Hearing scheduled for November 30, 2023, and any necessary subsequent involvement extending from the date of November 30, 2023, to complete the Hearing, pursuant to AIR-839
