ADMINISTRATION

Proclamation | Sylvan Lake Pride Week
Mayor Sean McIntyre proclaimed August 9th to 15th, 2020 as Pride Week in the Town of Sylvan Lake, affirming our community as a place where all persons are treated with dignity, respect and equality.

Project Status Reports
Council accepted project status reports from Public Works, as information.

Physical Distancing on Lakeshore Drive
Council approved Physical Distancing on Lakeshore Drive Motion Option 1, to close Lakeshore Drive from 46th Street to 50th Street on Saturdays and Sundays during August 2020. Council directed Administration to develop a sidewalk café approval process for businesses within the road closure area and to assist business owners to expedite their AGLC application. Council approved Administration’s request to be exempted from the 21-day road closure notification requirement outlined in Road Closure Policy.

CORPORATE SERVICES

Council accepted the utility billing update report as information, as outlined in Report AIR-248.

PUBLIC WORKS

Council awarded the contract for the construction of Pogadl Park water and sanitary mains to Carbon Earthworks Ltd. for $2,200,000, including 10% contingency, as presented in Report AIR-244.
Council approved the Roadway Sweeping Policy E-003-003-B, as presented in Report AIR-239.
Council approved the Walkway Hazard Inspection Policy, E-003-005-A, as presented in Report AIR-242.

Proclamation | Neighbour Day
Mayor Sean McIntyre proclaimed August 22, 2020, as Neighbour Day. This day celebrates and recognizes the neighbours in Sylvan Lake who bring the community together and who willingly help one another during the COVID-19 global pandemic.

RECREATION, CULTURE, AND TOURISM

Council approved the Town to operate the Viewpoint Lounge at the NexSource Centre and approved the proposed 2020 operating budget of $91,599.

Council approved the buyout of the Sylvan Lake Curling Club assets and inventory in the amount of $42,234.70, with funds from the Recreation Administration Operating Reserve Fund.
