Partial Pier Closure
Posted on:The Town of Sylvan Lake has temporarily closed the end portion of the pier due to safety concerns.
Over time, the composite boards on the pier have experienced heaving and breakage caused by regular wear and tear, as well as the natural instability of being built over moving water. This has prompted the Town to take proactive steps to protect both residents and visitors.
While this section of the pier is typically fenced off during the winter months to manage snow and ice buildup, the closure is being implemented earlier this year out of an abundance of caution.
We appreciate the community’s understanding and cooperation as we work to maintain safe and enjoyable public spaces.
