$295,000 Grant to Support at-risk Sylvan Lake Youth
Posted on:The Town of Sylvan Lake has received $295,000 from the Alberta Crime Prevention (ACP) grant to fund programs that support at-risk youth ages 12–24. The project runs until March 31, 2027, and will help at-risk youth build:
- Life skills
- Resilience
- Community connections
- Self-esteem
“We know some of our young people are struggling. In recent years, we’ve seen more issues like bullying, skipping school, and crime. Many of these challenges come from things young people can’t control, like family stress, limited services, or feeling isolated. With this grant, we can step in earlier and give youth the tools, support, and connections they need to make healthier choices and feel more confident about their future.” - Alissa McDonald, Director of Wellness and Community Connections, Town of Sylvan Lake
“Our community cares deeply about our young people, and this grant is such exciting news for Sylvan Lake. It gives us the chance to step in early and support youth in meaningful ways—helping them turn challenges into opportunities to grow. I’m excited about the positive impact this program will have, because when we invest in our youth, we’re building a stronger, safer, and more connected Sylvan Lake.” - Mayor Megan Hanson, Town of Sylvan Lake
