ALERT: Stage 2 water restrictions LIFTED

Posted on:

We are pleased to announce that stage 2 water restrictions are lifted. We are returning to regular water conservation starting July 29, 2024.

Thanks to all the Lakers protecting our water. Your efforts have kept us out of stage 3 restrictions and allowed us to return to regular water conservation. We ask that all Lakers return to observing water conservation so that we can continue to stay out of restrictions.

Water conservation

  • ALL homes watering ban everyday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM
  • All homes, anytime: Turn off your water if it is running into the street or sewer system. Watering further only wastes money and water
  • Odd numbered homes: water lawn, garden, or yard ONLY on odd numbered days
  • Even numbered homes: water lawn, garden, or yard ONLY on even numbered days
  • Hand watering: Any home may water by hand with a water jug on any day of the week, any time of day
  • New sod or seed: water on any day of the week, any time of day
  • Download a pdf announcement of the new water conservation rules

Why did we need to go to stage 2 water restrictions?

  • Wasteful water practices used water faster than our wells could refill in a given time period

Is water conservation a restriction?

  • Water conservation is not water restriction. Conservation is an annual water saving program that started in 1996. Conservation helps reduce wasteful water use and is not triggered by water shortages, droughts, or emergencies
  • Water conservation does not ask you to stop watering your gardens and lawns
  • Water conservation asks that all Lakers use water carefully and follow:
    • Watering hours
      • Watering during the heat of the day is less efficient than watering during cooler times of the day. Less water evaporates and that also works to save you money
    • Odd/even days and house numbers
      • Ensures that all Lakers have adequate access to water by not causing large draws on the system at the same time. This allows time for wells to refill
