ADMINISTRATION
Lakeshore Drive | Weekend Closures
Council directed Administration to extend the weekend Lakeshore Drive Road Closure and Sidewalk Café program through Labour Day Weekend (Saturday and Sunday only, September 5th and 6th).
Council approved Administration’s request to be exempted from the 21-day road closure notification requirement outlined in Road Closure Policy.
CORPORATE SERVICES
Concerns and Requests Report | 2nd Quarter
Council accepted the 2020 second quarter Public Concerns and Requests as presented in Report AIR-252, as information.
Financial Reports | 2nd Quarter
Council accepts the second Quarter Financial Reports for the period ending June 30th, 2020.
PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT
Request for Tourist Home Approval
Council approved the Development Permit #103-2020 to operate a Tourist Home located at 4418 – 50A Avenue, as presented, subject to conditions.
Request for Approval | Cannabis Retail Sales with Relaxations
Council defeated a motion to approve Report AIR-262, concerning Development Permit 092-2020, for a change in use to allow Cannabis Retail Sales with relaxations.
Development Permit | Single Family Dwelling
Council approved a one-time extension, to the Notice of Decision for Development Permit 157-2019, for the construction of a residence with a secondary suite from September 23, 2020, to September 23, 2021.
Northeast Gateway Area Structure Plan | Amendment
Council granted first reading to Bylaw 1813/2020, being a bylaw to amend the Northeast Gateway Area Structure Plan Bylaw 17175/2018.
Council set September 28, 2020 at 6:00 PM in the Council Chamber of the Municipal Government Building as the date, time, and place for the Public Hearing on Bylaw 1813/2020.
Bylaw 1811/2020 | Municipal Planning Commission
Council passed a bylaw to establish the Municipal Planning Commission.
Further, Council reappointed Marilyn Mohr, Keith Gardner, Mike Williams, and Chris Ginter as the citizens at large; and Councillor Megan Hanson, Councillor Graham Parsons, and Councillor Teresa Tilling as the Council representatives.
Council reappointed Councillor Kendall Kloss and Councillor Jas Payne as the alternates to the Municipal Planning Commission for the remainder of the 2020 term.
PUBLIC WORKS
Offsite Levy Bylaw 1812/2020
Council granted first reading to Bylaw 1812/2020 and set September 14, 2020 at 6:00 PM in Council Chambers as the date, time, and place for the Public Hearing on Bylaw 1812/2020.
Hunter Road Rehabilitation | Change Order #2
Council approved the Change Order #2 for CP1582 – Hunter Road Rehabilitation, and increase the project budget to $1,680,968.70 including 10% contingency, as presented.
Council reallocated $620,000 from the Road Capital Reserve to CP1852, as presented.
RECREATION, CULTURE AND TOURISM
Festival and Events Strategy
Council approved the Town of Sylvan Lake’s Festival and Event Strategy, as presented.
CORRESPONDANCE
Council carried a motion to support writing a letter to support Lacombe County and Red Deer County in their opposition to the Government of Alberta’s proposed Assessment Model Changes for regulated properties such as wells and pipelines.
