PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT

Sustainable Waterfront Area Redevelopment Plan | Bylaw 1776/2018
Council granted Second and Third Reading to Bylaw 1776/2018, effectively approving the Town of Sylvan Lake’s “REIMAGINE SYLVAN” document – the Sustainable Waterfront Area Redevelopment Plan.

Council also repealed the existing Waterfront Area Redevelopment Plan, Bylaw 1382/2006.

Land Use Bylaw Amendment | Bylaw 1777/2018
Council granted Second and Third Reading to Bylaw 1777/2018, being a Bylaw to amend the Town’s Land Use Bylaw 1695/2015. The amendment is related to the Sustainable Waterfront Area Redevelopment Plan.

COMMUNITY SERVICES

Emergency Management Bylaw 1778/2018
Council approved First Reading to the Municipal Emergency Management Bylaw, as presented.

The Bylaw is an amendment to Bylaw 1652/2014.

Pogadl Park Conceptual Design Approval
Council approved the Conceptual Design for the future sport and recreation park - Pogadl Park, and directed Administration to move forward with the 2019 Project Work Plan for Detailed Design, and Phase One Construction. 

The Project Work Plan will include a proposed Funding Strategy.

PUBLIC WORKS

Participation in Asset Management Cohort Program
Council committed staff and other personnel to participate in the Asset Management Cohort Program should the regional cohort application be accepted.

Council also committed to financial support from its budget toward the cost of the initiative for staff travel and accommodation.

Sylvan Lake Regional Wastewater Commission Business Plan
Council received the Sylvan Lake Regional Wastewater Commission 2019 Business Plan dated December 3, 2018, as information.

ADMINISTRATION

Project Status Reports | Fourth Quarter
Council granted an extension of time to June 30, 2019 for the completion of Phase One of the Wayfinding Signage Improvement Project.

Council reviewed Fourth Quarter Status Reports and accepted as information.

FINANCE

2019 Budget Approval
Council approved the Town of Sylvan Lake’s 2019 Operating Budget of $36,520,421, the Town of Sylvan Lake’s 2019 Capital Budget of $17,731,000, and adopted the 2020 and 2021 operating Financial Plans.

COUNCIL REQUESTS

Letter to Federal Government
Council moved to issue a public statement and letter to the federal leadership indicating support for the on-going work done by our citizens in the oil and gas industry and to voice our concerns to Prime Minister Trudeau, that energy policy and decisions made be done in the best interest of all Canadians.
