PROCLAMATIONS
- Mayor Hanson makes the following proclamations:
- August 3-9, 2025 to be Pride Week in the Town of Sylvan Lake
- August 17, 2025 to be Neighbour Day in the Town of Sylvan Lake
POLICY ADOPTIONS
- Council adopts the following policies
- Respectful Interactions Policy
- Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Performance Review Policy
- Long-Term Contract Employment Benefits Policy
- Outdoor Skating Rink Maintenance Policy
WINTER VILLAGE CHANGES
- Council directs administration to set the lighting of the winter village to the date of the first Friday following Remembrance Day and update all marketing materials to reflect the new date
TENDER AWARDS
- Council awards the tender for a 2026 model dump truck to Glover International Trucks Limited of Red Deer, Alberta, for an amount not to exceed $250,000, excluding the GST
- Council awards the tender for phase 2 of the 2025 Roadway Rehabilitation Program to Border Paving Limited of Red Deer, Alberta, for an amount not to exceed $300,000, including $50,000 contingency and excluding the GST
NON-RESIDENTIAL TAX INCENTIVE
- Council grants first reading to Bylaw 1930/2025, being a bylaw to establish a Non-Residential Tax Incentive program in Sylvan Lake
COUNCIL ADVOCACY BUSINESS
- Council adopts the Town of Sylvan Lake Advocacy Framework
- Council to work with administration to advocate for our current Advanced Ambulatory Care Centre to be upgraded to an Urgent Care Centre, with expanded hours and staffing so it can better meet the growing needs of our community today and into the future; Council assigns Councillor Rilling and the Mayor as the elected officials to lead this item
- Council to work with administration to advocate for a new high school to ensure that families have access to high quality educational facilities; Council assigns Councillor Payne and the Mayor as the elected officials to lead this item
- Council to work with administration to advocate for strategic tourism investment and accommodation development to elevate Sylvan Lake (and the Olds-to-Lacombe Zone) from an Emerging to Breakthrough Destination, aligning with Travel Alberta’s growth priorities; Council assigns Councillor Mearns and the Mayor as the elected officials to lead this item
GOLF CARTS IN TOWN
- Council directs administration to bring back a Golf Cart Bylaw for council's consideration, at a future special meeting of Council
BYLAW AMENDMENTS
- Council grants Second and Third reading to Bylaw 1927/2025, being a bylaw to amend the Town's Land Use Bylaw 1695/2015
- Council grants Second and Third reading to Bylaw 1928/2025, being a bylaw to amend the Town's Land Use Bylaw 1695/2015 to amend the definition of restaurant and drinking establishment
