Council Took a Moment to Honour Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II
In our lifetimes, we’ve received the honour of observing and living under the watchful eye of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the Second. Sadly, the Queen passed last Thursday, September 8 at the age of 96. Her late Majesty was a dedicated sovereign who helped shape our history during her 70 years on the throne. Her commitment to public service and dignified leadership in uncertain times was an example to us all. On her many visits to Alberta, she greeted dignitaries and schoolchildren with the same keen interest and showed profound respect for the Indigenous people of this province. On behalf of Council and the community of Sylvan Lake, we join fellow members of the Commonwealth in mourning her death and extend heartfelt condolences to all members of the Royal Family.
