New water reservoir and pump house
Posted on:
On Monday, members of Sylvan Lake Town Council were on site breaking ground for a new water reservoir and pump house. The new infrastructure will provide enough water storage and supply to meet an estimated population of 30,000, and have the ability for future expansion to support a total population of 45,000.
“Core infrastructure and the provision of quality water services to residents is a priority of this Council. Addressing water storage is essential to ensuring a sustainable community; we are better positioned to sustain the existing population while seeking opportunities for economic growth. – Mayor Sean McIntyre, Town of Sylvan Lake
With construction of this $11,400,000 project now underway, completion and operation is scheduled for late 2020.
Throughout this initiative, the Town is also upgrading its existing SCADA software system (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition). This system monitors the municipality’s water and wastewater systems.
