OHV Bylaw passed and trial is underway

Posted on:

Council passed second and third reading of the Off Highway Vehicle Bylaw at the November 25 Regular Meeting of Council. Full details are outlined in the bylaw, available on our website. All users must become familiar with the details outlined in the bylaw prior to use.

Here's a couple of important details that Lakers need to know:

  • Off Highway Vehicles (OHV) are only permitted between December 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025
  • OHVs may only operate between 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM
  • OHV’s will NOT be permitted on any pathways in Sylvan Lake
  • Residents are encouraged to read through the bylaw to understand all necessary details, prior to using OHVs in Sylvan Lake

This bylaw will be monitored closely by administration and Council throughout the winter season. Council will review the bylaw in the spring of 2025, with a focus on the impact to the community including, but not limited to, enforcement complaints and reliance on enforcement resources. Council would like to encourage residents to provide feedback, concerns, and suggestions through the Town's official contact form.

Lakers can also ask questions and learn more about the project at engage.sylvanlake.ca/OHV-Bylaw. Random comments or messages left throughout social media will not be considered at this time. Please use the proper channels to provide feedback on the bylaw.
