Neuron Mobility is bringing e-scooters to Sylvan Lake!
Starting Friday May 12, 100 safety-first e-scooters will offer a convenient and environmentally-friendly transport option for both residents and visitors.
The Town of Sylvan Lake is partnering with Neuron for its strong track record of partnering with cities, and its leadership when it comes to safety and innovation. Sylvan Lake is Neuron’s 13th Canadian program and sixth in Alberta.
“We are so excited to bring this service to Lakers and visitors alike,” said Mayor Megan Hanson. “E-scooters are becoming a tried and true form of transportation for communities across Canada and we’re happy to offer this experience in Sylvan Lake. Expanding transportation options in Sylvan Lake while offering a unique experience in our community continues to show why Sylvan Lake truly is brilliant all year.”
Advanced geofencing technology will also control where the e-scooters are ridden and parked, and how fast they can travel in certain areas. Other cutting-edge features include topple detection to detect if an e-scooter has been left on its side, a 911 emergency button which detects if a rider has had a fall and then helps them call the emergency services via their smartphone, and a ‘Follow My Ride’ feature which allows riders to share their trip with family and friends in real-time.
“Safety is our top priority, it dictates our e-scooter design, and also the way we operate them,” said Ankush Karwal, Head of Market for Canada at Neuron Mobility. “Our vehicles are jam-packed with cutting-edge safety features and we know from experience in other cities that riders really appreciate this. We look forward to partnering with the Town of Sylvan Lake to connect locals and visitors with the amazing tourism and recreational attractions of Alberta’s favourite beach town.”
“E-scooters are a great new mode of transport and they are having a positive impact in many Canadian cities,” said Robyn Robertson, TIRF President & CEO. “To ride safely, riders must stay alert, behave responsibly and follow the rules. We’re urging all riders to be responsible. Riders should be aware, sober and always protect themselves with a helmet – Neuron's e-scooters all have one provided. Watch out for pedestrians and others, and remove distractions, including earphones."
