Request for Letters of Support
Council tabled a report to approve authority to the Mayor to provide letters of support to community groups, as requested from time to time, as per report AIR-272.
Request for Policy Approvals
Council approved the proposed policies: “Town Policies and Procedures”, “Council Priority Setting”, “Recognition of Public Members, Committees, Boards and Commissions”, and “CAO Performance Review”.
CORPORATE SERVICES
Fees for Assessment and Taxation Services
Council gave Second and Third Reading to Bylaw 1815/2020, setting fees and charges for assessment and taxation services.
Interest Charged on Overdue Accounts
Council granted First Reading to proposed Bylaw 1816/2020 authorizing interest charged on overdue accounts.
Asset Retirement Obligation Liability Funding
Council authorized funding from utility capital reserve of $4,298,000 for the lagoon-asset retirement obligation liability as approved and recorded in the Town of Sylvan Lake’s 2019 audited financial statements.
ATCO Gas Franchise Fee
Council approved the natural gas franchise fee rate with ATCO Gas at 27% for the 2021 fiscal year. (unchanged)
Fortis Electrical Franchise Fee
Council approved the electrical system franchise fee rate with Fortis Alberta at 15% for the 2021 fiscal year. (unchanged)
RECREATION CULTURE AND TOURISM
User Group Statistics Collection Policy
Council replaced the User Group Statistics Collection Policy R-001-004 with User Groups Statistics Collection Policy R-001-004A.
Recreation, Culture, and Tourism Definitions Policy
Council replaced Recreation, Parks and Culture Definitions Policy R-001-001 with Recreation, Culture and Tourism Definitions Policy R-001-001A.

Sylvan Lake Intermunicipal Development Plan
Council set November 21st as a Special Meeting date to host a Joint Public Hearing for the Sylvan Lake Intermunicipal Development Plan, in conjunction with the eight municipalities surrounding Sylvan Lake.
