Amendment to Land Use Bylaw Definitions and Regulations for Cannabis Retail Use
Council granted Second and Third Reading to Bylaw 1759/2018.
Amendment to Land Use Bylaw to Define Districts for Location of Cannabis Retail Sales
Council granted Second Reading to Bylaw 1760/2018. The proposed bylaw will come back to Council only once the consumption of cannabis is legalized by the federal government.
Marina Bay Public Utility Lot - Lease
Council approved the lease or two Public Utility Lots to the Marina Bay Homeowners Association, as presented.
Amendment to Land Use Bylaw – Marina Bay
Council granted Second and Third Reading to Bylaw 1763/2018 to amend the Land Use Bylaw.
Development Permit – Request for Detached Garage with Relaxation
Council defeated a motion to approve the development permit for a garage with relaxation for the following reasons:
- The proposal does not have any constraints that make it difficult for the development to comply with regulations.
- A 50% relaxation from the minimum required side yard is excessive.
- The concerns of Public Works with the proposed garage being in close proximity to an existing sanitary service line and not allowing enough work space for future maintenance if required.
Alberta Health Services Request for Free-Standing Sign
Council approved a request for a free-standing sign at 49 Avenue, adjacent to 4602 – 49 Avenue.
Development Fee Schedule Amendment
Council approved the Development Fee Schedule as presented.
COMMUNITY SERVICES
Consumption of Cannabis Bylaw
Council approved First Reading to the Cannabis Consumption Bylaw 1764/2018 as presented.
Amendment to Mobile Vending Business and Busking Bylaw
Council defeated a motion to direct staff to remove item 4, which states:
Schedule A (Mobile Vending Unit Fees) amended to provide the opportunity for a Fitness and Leisure permit holders to receive a 50% reduced rate in lieu of offering free “drop-in” programming to residents and visitors.
Council granted Second and Third Reading to an amendment to the Mobile Vending Business and Busking Bylaw to include Leisure and Fitness Class Vendors.
Funding Request, Truck Replacement – Fire Department
Council approved the allocation of $65,000 from the Fire Department Mobile Equipment Reserve for the replacement of Squad 1.
PUBLIC WORKS
Tender Award – Pavement Patching
Council awarded the 2018 Pavement Patching Tender to Border Paving for an amount not to exceed $330,000 excluding GST.
Bylaw to Amend Off-site Levy Rates
Council granted First Reading to Bylaw 1767/2018, a Bylaw to amend the Off-Site Levy Rates.
Council sets July 23, 2018 at 6:00 PM. in the Council Chambers as the date, time and place for a Public Hearing on Bylaw 1767/2018.
