CMHC Funding for Sylvan Lake

More funding is coming to the Town of Sylvan Lake to support housing initiatives in the community.
The Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) is awarding the Town an additional $540,000 grant to support building more homes faster in Sylvan Lake.
Town Council approved the motion for the CAO to finalize negotiations on the funding during a special meeting hosted on Wednesday, March 18, 2025.
The additional funding became available in part due to the Town's progress in meeting the housing targets outlined in our initial HAF agreement, as well as a commitment to permitting more housing units through a new initiative under our Housing Accelerator Action Plan.
An update to the Housing Accelerator Action plan will be brought forward to Council in April, which will include a detailed report on the Town's progress in the first year.
