BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

Sylvan Lake Quiet Enjoyment Initiative
Council accepted the Quiet Enjoyment Initiative Request for Funding Report as information.

Council also defeated a motion to approve the request from the Quiet Enjoyment Initiative for funding and for support of the initiative.

PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT

Proposed Bylaw 1748/2018, Land Use Bylaw Amendments
Council proposed and approved changes to Section 7.44 of the Land Use Bylaw be excluded from Bylaw 1748/2018, Land Use Bylaw Amendments.

Council granted Second and Third Reading to proposed Bylaw 1748/2018, being a Bylaw to amend the Town’s Land Use Bylaw 1695/2015, as amended.

Spring Shoreline Cleanup Project
Council approved the support and participation in the 2018 spring shoreline cleanup event, “Team Up to Clean Up”, to be held on Saturday, May 25, 2018, as proposed by the Sylvan Lake Management Committee.

COMMUNITY SERVICES

Request for Budget Adjustment, Parks Mobile Reserve
Council approved a $4,000 budget adjustment, to be funded from the Mobile Equipment Reserve, for the enrollment of the Bobcat utility vehicle into the Municipal Trade-in Program.

Lost/Unclaimed Property Policy
Council approved the Lost/Unclaimed Property Policy, as presented. 

Battle and the Beach, Ball Hockey Tournament
Council approved the Battle and the Beach, Ball Hockey Tournament, provided certain conditions are met no later than May 29th.

ADMINISTRATION

Parental Leave for Councillors
Council granted First Reading to Bylaw 1750/2018, Parental Leave for Councillors, as presented. 

Proposed Procedure – Approved Leave of Absence from Council Meetings
Council moved to exclude Item 1d) from Procedure – Approved Leave of Absence from Council Meetings.

Council then accepted the Procedure – Approved Leave of Absence from Council Meetings.

FINANCE

2016 Financial Indicator Graphs
Council accepted the 2016 Financial Indicator Graphs as information, and directed Administration to make them available to the public (www.sylvanlake.ca/en/your-government/financial-statements)

Bylaw 1751/2018 Water and Sewer Bylaw Amendment
Council granted First, Second, and Third Reading to Bylaw 1751/2018 to amend the Water and Sewer Bylaw. The Amendment updates the Bylaw to now recognize monthly utility billing.

CORRESPONDENCE ITEMS

MLA Letter Campaign – Police Funding
Council carried a motion for the Town of Sylvan Lake to support a more equalized distribution of policing costs within Alberta, and request the Government of Alberta reviews the issue, as per the recommendation of the AUMA.
