COMMUNITY SERVICES
Snow Removal/Sidewalk Maintenance, Added to Tax Roll
Council approved report AIR-123, to add the unpaid expenses and costs incurred by the town to the tax rolls of those property owners identified in Appendix “A” who neglected to removed snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their properties and who, further, neglected to remit payment to the Town upon demand.
PUBLIC WORKS
Bylaw 1797/2019 | Waste Bylaw Amendment
Council granted Second and Third Readings to Waste Bylaw Amendment 1797/2019. The amendment results in an increase to tippage rates at the Waste Transfer Site. Increased rates are a result of inflationary costs. Yard/Kitchen waste, recyclables, electronics, and “drop n swap” will continue to be accepted at no cost for disposal, as these items are funded through the solid waste levy, the recycle levy, and other sources including grants.
ADMINISTRATION
Appointment to Sylvan Lake Library Board
Council appointed Julie Maplethorpe, Councillor for the Summer Village of Jarvis Bay to the Sylvan Lake Municipal Library Board as a representative of the Summer Villages of Birchcliff, Half Moon Bay, Jarvis Bay, Norglenwold and Sunbreaker Cove for a term ending on July 31st, 2021.
FINANCE
Request for Approval | Budget 2020
Council approved the Town of Sylvan Lake’s 2020 Operating Budget of $37,086,537.
Council approved the Town of Sylvan Lake’s 2020 Capital Budget of $16,811,000.
Council adopted the 2021 and 2022 operating financial plans.
2018 Financial Indicator Graphs
Council accepted the 2018 Financial Indicator Graphs as information and directs Administration to make them available to the public.
The Province of Alberta releases Financial Indicator Graphs at the end of the year for the past fiscal period. The graphs serve as a tool in assessing past performances and assist with budget planning – available at www.sylvanlake.ca/budget
