Amendment to Mobile Vending Business and Busking Bylaw
Council approved First Reading to Bylaw 1766/2018 to amend the Mobile Vending Business and Busking Bylaw 1732/2017 to include Leisure and Fitness Class Vendors.
PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT
Mobile Vending – Bylaw 1761/2018
Council gave Second and Third Readings – approving an amendment to Mobile Vending Business and Busking Bylaw to include the Light Industrial District and the Heavy Industrial District.
Mobile Vending – Business Licensing
Council gave Second and Third Readings – approving an amendment to the Business Licensing Bylaw to include Light Industrial District and the Heave Industrial District, as it relates to Mobile Vending.
COMMUNITY SERVICES
NexSource Centre Year in Review
Council accepted the NexSource Centre Year in Review as information. The report is available at sylvanlake.ca/nexsourcecentre.ca
Approval of Funds for Sylvan Lake Park Signage
Council approved the allocation of $30,000 from the Provincial Park Operating Reserve to the Sylvan Lake Park Sign Project and directs Administration to proceed with design and installation.
Smoke Free Bylaw Amendment
Council approved amendments to the Smoke Free Bylaw, as presented. Expanded Smoke Free regulations include:
- A revised definition of ‘Smoke’ or ‘Smoking’ to include:
- To inhale, to exhale, burn, or have control of a lighted cigarette, lighted cigar, lighted pipe, a hookah, and electronic cigarette or vape, or other lighted smoking implement designed to burn or heat tobacco, cannabis, or any other weed or substance for the purpose of inhaling or tasting of its smoke or emissions.
- To inhale, to exhale, burn, or have control of a lighted cigarette, lighted cigar, lighted pipe, a hookah, and electronic cigarette or vape, or other lighted smoking implement designed to burn or heat tobacco, cannabis, or any other weed or substance for the purpose of inhaling or tasting of its smoke or emissions.
- Smoking of any of the above is restricted within a:
- Public park or playground property,
- School property,
- Child care facility property,
- Playground,
- Sports or playing field,
- Skate park or bike park,
- Outdoor theatre,
- Outdoor pool or splash pad, and/or
- Municipal facilities that are frequented by children (for example the Sylvan Lake Library, NexSource Centre, and Family and Community Centre).
- The distance allowed for smoking from an entrance or exit has increased from 3 metres to 5 metres.
Municipal Weed Inspector Appointments
Council appointed the following seasonal staff members as Municipal Weed Inspectors for the Town: Grant GAUTREAU; Ryan GANTON; Matthew BOSSERT; Cody MCINTOSH; Jenny ZAISER and Mark GREEN.
ADMINISTRATION
Economic Development Opportunities Forum Update
Council directed staff to review the survey findings and pursue recommendations made by the visiting developers that will improve the Town’s opportunity to enhance and attract investment.
Wayfinding Signage Update for Information
Council accepted the Wayfinding Signage Design as presented for information.
REIMAGINE SYLVAN – Next Steps
Council accepted the report and REIMAGINE SYLVAN process to date/next stes, as information.
